Am I in The Right Profession??

In this era of cut-throat competition, we often found ourselves in a situation where we tend to re-think on our career decisions.

And everytime,  I end up with up following conclusions which I am jotting down. This is basically for them, who are not in early stages of their careers.

Professions should be chosen on looking at following basic factors. One needs to keep a balance of all these, you can’t get all four at the same time.

1. Money
2. Personal Satisfaction or Passion
3. Risk
4. Name and Fame

We can roughly classify all professions in these criteria.

• Business/Entrepreneurship
• Games/Hobby
• Scientist/Research
• Job/Service

I am a software Professional. I am fetching decent salary. But here, I can not expect that someday, my name will publish in one news-paper. Or people will praise me for my extra-ordinary work. No-no…A software job or take any job either public sector or private job except research jobs, one will always get a fixed amount of bucks whether it is less or more,depends; at the end of the month. But risk is lesser as compare to other mentioned professions. And if we talk about personal satisfaction or passion, then again I am sorry, you hardly get that here.In a job, work will not be of your choice. But this is least risky affair.

If  you are looking for some name/fame/glory, want to be famous then better you should adopt your hobby/interest as your profession. Look at Sachin Tendulkar, Abhitabh Bachchan Jee and many other big names.All of them have done something which they love to do or what the people like us keep in our hobbies/interest sections in our profiles. true? atleast in 90% cases it will be true. But problem here is ‘RISK’. You have to take risk, The Maximum Risk. This is the only profession I see which can give you three things out of four mentioned above but at the cost of maximum risk.

Now, Lets say if you want to earn Money; “Waana be Millionaire” then possibly have to forget about your personal satisfaction. You have to be happier as much as money you are earning. Money should be your passion. Probably, you may also get Name/Fame too here. But again, RISK is at the uppper-most level here. You want to earn money, you may have to loose too in the starting. Be enough capable of bearing loss and strenghten yourselves to fight back. And well, this can be also the one of most innovative area in terms of Ideas. Ideas should be floating in your mind even at the breakfast table. So, if you want to be another Dhirubhai, Ratan Tata, Sunil Mittal etc.etc, then tighten your belts and fly in the sky. Endeavor to open parachute and controlling your pounding heart-beats, will decide your destiny at the risk of hitting the ground on falling under gravity.

Now take the least chosen profession “Research”,  many call it a bit boring too. Going in Research means you will are going on a endless journey leaving everything behind. Depending upon your success, you may get Money,Name,personal Satisfaction; 3 out of 4. But see, I said ‘depending upon your success’; it means at the cost of huge risk. You have to risk for everything, even for sometime your life too. Kalpana Chawla already knew the danger in the space-mission. But she has taken that risk.

For the time, most of the people would be thinking where will we keep ‘POLITICS’ ???

Big Question. Looking at present scenario, we can safely put in 1st category that is Business. But personally, it should come under last category i.e Job/Service because being a politician we can serve our Nation. And this is also risky affair as compared to other services.

Now it is your call where want to land up….

But, I will say.. No RISK. No GAIN.

Aim at stars, at least you will land up on the moon…
